(Re)Introduce Yourself

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody! New friends, old friends alike, please take the opportunity to stop in this thread and introduce yourself. Please leave a post with your name and the pronouns you use, as well as a picture of yourself if you feel comfy with that, and 3 facts about yourself you’d like us to know. Then, give the whole thread a look-through and familiarize yourself with all your fellow Rmy members and pop back in to catch up every so often.

So, to reiterate, we need 4 things from you:

1). Your name

2). Your pronouns

3). A picture of you (optional)

4). Three facts about yourself

And post an update if any of those things change!

I'm Kerry, you can call me Kez too (she/her). I'm 27 and live in the rainy UK.

I'm an admin here so if you have any issues with your account, the forum, members or anything else feel free to pm me.

I've been an MCR fan since around 2006, or maybe 2005 (just before TBP came out) and saw them live four times on the Danger Days tour. I need to top up that number so they'd better play some UK dates!

I'm pet obsessed and have two cats, a dog and a hamster. I'm particularly passionate about dog welfare so will go on and on about that given the chance 😂 I'm a dog walker!

Does that count as three facts? 🤣 I don't think there's anything else interesting about me!

Here's a picture of my dog teasing his Christmas outfit 😁

I’m Sonia. I’m female.

I have a horse, Mick Mac, and I’ve had him for 20 years, so he’s my best friend and the love of my life.

I’m a teacher at high school in maths and physics.

I love cake and chocolate and anything sweet!

And also, I love all kinds of animals, and have a weird fascination for llamas! Btw, I did pet a llama in Peru, so that’s pretty cool😅

Adding a pic of Mick Mac and me, since I feel awkward being in pics alone

Edit: I’m 29 years old!

Hi friends! I’m Brinn, I’ve been around the forums since 2011 (and a fan since the Helena video was filmed). My pronouns are they/them. I’ll be 26 in December and I live in California.

3 (more?) facts about me:

1). I, too love animals very, very much; my family and I have three cats, three dogs, and I have a snake. My favorite animals are octopuses.

2). I write poetry and compete in poetry slams in my area. I’m alright.

3). I love going to concerts (I know that’s really surprising and unique to this forum but it’s a really big part of my life). The last show I saw at the time of writing this was Against Me! On a solo trip to LA.

Here’s the latest picture I have of me, with my snake (his name is Severus Snake):

I don’t know why my picture is sideways but I can’t fix it, so here it is.

Hi, I'm Ash. I've been around... too long man. I'm 25. He/Him pronouns.

My favourite album is Danger Days, though I do love The Black Parade for it's theatrical feeling, but Danger Days won my heart. I feel that's an unpopular opinion but that's okay.

3 Facts:

  • i play guitar (i picked it up about 3 years ago)
  • i have a film degree
  • i recently turned vegetarian and it's pretty cool

Picture (sorry 'bout my face):

The name is Mariguel (she/her). You may refer to me as Mari or MariG. Currently 28 and live in Philadelphia.

(This picture is about 6 years old and is the only decent one that I have by myself 🤣)

I've been a fan since fall of 2004 (when the I'm Not Okay music video was released), and saw My Chem for the first time in 2011. I have a Bachelor's degree in science, Penn State Almuni. Love going to concerts, and this past summer I got to attend my first and last Warped Tour with my baby sister, loved every moment.

Can I please just say how heartwarming it is to see so many animal pictures here. I live vicariously.

I'm Francesca (she/her), I'm 24 and I'm from England. I've been knocking around the MCRmy since 2010ish, and I've been a fan since about 2006.

1) I'm a writer. Like, professionally. It's cool. Horrendously paid but so so cool

2) My friends in school used to call me Frank, which I still answer to, and one time my stereo was playing Vampire Money and when G said 'how 'bout you, Frank' I actually started to reply and got irritable that I was interrupted by Frank Iero.

3) I'm learning how to read the tarot and my life goal is to be that old lady with a pack of cards who looks knowingly at people, flips a card and unearths their entire soul in a sentence.

This picture was me at Halloween. I went as a fortune teller (it's the reason I picked up the tarot) and accidentally ended up looking exactly like I normally look except also like I was auditioning for the next series of Peaky Blinders. Which you should definitely watch.

Hey all!

I’m Alex and I’ve been around since 2012. I’m 28, live in Los Angeles, and am beside myself with excitement about being able to remember my login after so long.

Three facts:

- I’m a publicist for a university. I may be a grown up emo kid now but I certainly have maintained a chic all black wardrobe 🤟🏽

- I fundraise for the Downtown Women’s Center on LA’s Skid Row. They are the only resource for unaccompanied women in the area and are focused on permanent rehousing (I’m super proud to be affiliated with them and am passionate about this issue!).

- My favorite story to tell people about my dad is this one: When MCR had their Halloween show in Los Angeles during the Black Parade era my best friend Megan and I used six different phones to try and win tickets on KROQ. We failed. My dad somehow found out that a limited number of people would be able to get in at the door on Halloween (in retrospect he was definitely trying to win me tickets as well 😭). So, he pulled me and Megan out of school on the 30th and whisked us to House of Blues Sunset, where he slept on the filthy streets of Hollywood with us, keeping us safe, until all three of us got into the show. 🖤

Here’s my face:

Wow I never ended up doing this hi I'm Jackie I've been here since back in the day as well. She/her is fine. Three facts:

1. I'm in school learning sign language and I adore it. Highly recommend Deaf people are dope and now I can hang out with them.

2. I'm 25 in a month and I live in Missouri cause fuck me I guess lmao

3. Last year I spent a month by myself in Thailand, South Korea, and Japan and now I'm bit by the travel bug. Can't stop. Gotta leave. My eternal escapist tendencies now have a cause it's wild.

My name is Sydney, she/her is just fine.

From Huntington Beach, CA—living in Northern California now.

1) I’m in school to get my veterinary technician license and have worked with a lot of different animals. I met my fiancé working at Petco and we have a lot of pets. Never met an animal I didn’t like.

2) It’s such an exciting time in children’s cartoons rn with this kind of societal push for more diversity and greater depth of characters and development. I especially love the trend rn of strong female leads in fantasy/adventure. It’s everything I wanted as a kid: Gravity Falls, Owl House, Infinity Train, Amphibia, Craig of the Creek, all great shows I will fight you on this. I nerd out about this kind of stuff.

3) Cats follow me and my fiancé when we take late night walks. I’m not sure why this keeps happening. We had to walk home from a restaurant and get in our car to trick the cat: he tried to walk with us to get burgers and was about to cross a busy street. His name was Morochi and he waltzed into our home randomly and would steal my hair ties.

Here are some friends in lieu of my photo:

They are good doggies, I gave them each a gentle smooch just for you.

What kind of snake do you have? I have a snake friend myself.

Our snake is a Columbian Red-tailed Boa, he is male and his name is Noodles. He is incredibly tame and during the warm months he will fall asleep on your lap. He’s about 5ft and 6-7 years old. What kind of snake do you have?? I used to be really into reptile keeping and had 5 + snakes at one point when I worked as a foster/rescue.

Her name is Calli. We had to make an emergency move to NorCal when my fiancé got in a car accident that put him out of work. We moved in with his parents and this cat was waiting for us. She is a neighborhood cat that would occasionally stop by and hang out on the porch. During the cold rainy months we didn’t see much of her. A few weeks ago we were walking late at night in the neighborhood and she popped out of some bushes and meowed at us. She proceeded to follow us home and ever since then she has been a regular. She isn’t our cat and we have dogs, but the little garage area we are living in is separate from the main house and she comes in at night to get out of the cold and sleep with us. When we take post dinner walks she will usually pop out from somewhere and “escort us” around until we return home. She walks with us the whole way usually beside us or bringing up the rear. She is the friendliest cat, I think she is a sign of good things to come.

aaaaaaaaaah I'm a cartoon nerd too!! Craig of the Creek is one of the best shows of the generation and I am SO proud of its existence! I'm into a ton of what Cartoon Network's been doing lately. OK K.O.! was my shit. The only one of those I'm not up to date with is Owl House, I may have to look into that 🤔

Yeaaa!! Craig of the Creek is great and Jeff Rosenstock doing the music is just fantastic. I love the characters, Kelsey is my middle school spirit animal. Ok KO was really good! I was sad when it ended. Owl house has some involvement with Alex Hirsch. It’s only 4 episodes in but I really like it so far. Good to know i’m not alone in appreciating these things 😃

I had to look up Alex Hirsch but ah looks like he's a big player in Disney the last few years! Nice!

okay but if we're talking cartoons, I gotta ask.....thoughts on Steven Universe? I'm still really down with what they're doing even after all this time but I know it's kind a mixed bag on what people think of it these days 😬

I really like Steven Universe. My ex gf loved it for being “the lesbian show”, but I think everyone can appreciate it regardless of how you identify. I liked seasons 1-3, didn’t see much of 4 but I need to rewatch from the beginning. I saw a couple of the TV movies and while I don’t tend to like the musical heavy segments as much, it makes sense for the show. As a series I think it’s pretty solid and I really like the messages it presents to viewers about identity, sexuality, and not being afraid to present things as being more gray than black and white. Definitely an important series for the LBTQ+ community, but presented in such a way that I think that shouldn’t stop it from being a great show that can be loved by everybody.

**i have not yet seen Steven Universe Future, but i’m excited to see where they are headed

Noodles is so cuuute. I love him.

My boy is a Dumerils boa named Severus Snake, and he is also such a sweet cuddle buddy. He doesn’t even strike when it comes to food. He just sort of...wazzles it. I haven’t measured him lately but I’d say he’s also around 5 feet. I’m not sure how old he is because he’s a rescue. Reptile keeping is so cool; I love watching videos of people creating really awesome setups.

my favorite thing about it is how many episodes i see and think "wow i wish someone had told me this as a kid." the diversity is amazing and the lesbianism is certainly abound but it's also just a very good show with complex themes told in a way that is very understandable and I really like the music and the art and it's just all very pleasant tbh

Yes to everything you just said. It used to be my go-to show I would put on when I was sad or upset. Honestly everything I see in cartoons rn is stuff I really would have liked as a child and it makes me happy this next generation gets to grow up with all of this as the “new norm”

He sounds like such a good boy!!! I love when snakes forget how to snake and sort of just daintily take their prey item. Noodles just shed and is due for another meal here soon. You should post a picture of your setup 😃 I used to help design custom builds when I worked at Petco. My coworker (who also had 5 + snakes) would do the actual construction and we had a lot of fun doing it. She made Noodles current setup but he might need an upgrade soon.

He is! I have to put his food on a paper plate in his tank because he doesn’t take it from me. His setup is very ugly right now (not unsafe, just ugly) because I’m in the process of renovating. It’s a bit difficult because we don’t have any reptile vets or stores around here for me to ask questions to so I’m wading through all the conflicting information online. I also tried to make a custom background and failed completely, and tried to make a live setup but he killed all the plants and started digging up the hydro-rocks or whatever they’re called. Now he has a big ol’ natural light though!

Are you trying to set up a bioactive enclosure? Those are really difficult in my opinion, but maybe I just don’t like things that require maintenance. I had another boa in a bioactive tank with soil, plants, and a water fountain and ultimately ditched it bc he just destroyed the plants. There is a big reptile community on tumblr and some good resources on getting one started. I’ll try to find them and I can link it for you (if that’s something you are interested in).
