Sister Wives 3: The Regeneration

Recommended Posts

It's pretty valid that you were working. The people I know with key worker jobs haven't stopped this whole pandemic, and those who switched to online work, like teachers, have had a really rough time of it. Don't feel bad for feeling sorry for yourself! This is an odd, worrying time. We're allowed to wallow occasionally.

Aah, don't feel bad for getting little done while in quarantine! A global pandemic, existential threat, and quarantine itself are reason enough for just about anything tbh, it's a weird time and that is all the excuse you need. Be kind to yourself! Unprecedented times or whatever every single person in professional space has said at some point or whatever! You were busy dealing with that if nothing else, that is an energy sucker if there ever was one!

Also hi it's been a while how is everyone? I'm lowkey dying but it's fine.

Uhhh lowkey dying is....well I'm not actively, literally dying? Definitely been doing better, though. Slipping into old, nasty coping mechanisms. Slow upward movement, but fuck it would be easier to just be functional lmao. I'll be fine, I've been here before and dug my way out, I'm just bipolar and reacting to a global pandemic, a polar vortex keeping me indoors, and trying to keep my job and not flunk out of school. Things'll get better and I'm just waiting for that lol

Sorry, didn't mean to get quite that heavy there haha.....what have you been up to?

Hi Jackie (please tell me I’m not mixing up your name, I got slightly nervous right now), good to see you back! Not so good to hear about your low key dying, but I hope that will sort itself out. As you said, this is a time for being nice to yourself, and admit that life is kinda hard, even if it isn’t.

I’m doing pretty good. There’s a lot off feelings, but you know, many good feelings as well. My days are mostly like before the pandemic, but for a lot more washing off hands and things, and the occasional face mask. And seeing none off my friends that ain’t colleagues or at the stable. But since schools are open, I meet a lot off people every day, and it makes things feel normal-ish.

I have to share my newfound coping mechanism for stress! My mom and I were watching tv yesterday, and there was nothing on, so we ended up at animal planet and a documentary about sloths. 🦥  And watching those animals move in slow motion was both calming and funny. And so so so cute. So watching sloths on YouTube is my new hobby. I’ll include a video for you guys to feel calmness.

They're simultaneously like toddlers and elderly people??? Thank you very much for that.

Ugh Jackie I hear you. I think that anyone who deals with mental health problems in normal times deserves the presidential medal of freedom for dealing in covid times. I'm consoling myself that if I can survive this, I can survive anything. Or that is what I am telling myself.

lol yes you're correct, this is Jackie 😁

Yeah, this is probably going to be like the lowest point in a bunch of people's lives and for people that already had mental health problems it's only compounded. So, like. Fuck! haha but we continue, we always have. Congrats, everyone, we're super strong 💪

aaah I love that! I'm trying to think what I've been doing to relax lately...mostly watching videos of cute band moments I think, I truly have reverted back to my 14-year-old self lmao

Yep, that’s about right Francesca! You’re very welcome.

I agree with you guys, I can’t even imagine how it is going through this with stuff on top. Like I said, my life hasn’t changed much, but I still feel the weight off the situation as a whole.

I saw two bees today! And there's this one rose I see on my walk that literally wafts down the street. There are a tonne of rose bushes in this one garden and there's this one teeny lil flower and it smells so nice.

omggggggggggg I love that??? TWO bees?? 🐝🐝 that is so delightful. and the rose is so cool! we have a flowerless rose plant in our bathroom, it doesn't get enough sun to be growing very well hence the lack of flowers, but it still smells rosy somehow? it's neat.

I can't wait for spring and flowers to come back, i like to find small ones that i happen to find when out and about and press them in my wallet between two giftcards or whatever i have in there and give them to people lol. my penpal will be getting so many once spring starts!

Some of my friends sent me a cake today. With a picture off us on. I almost cried, they’re so so sweet!
Also, I laughed cause the apartment complex I live in is kinda confusing if you don’t know where you’re going. The poor delivery guy where running up the stairs looking for me, but I live one stair down😅 I always have to run up and find my first time visitors (and some times also the second and third time🤣)

Yesss and today I think I saw a magpie with a twig for a nest. Also two squirrels. Separate locations. Bloody love spring.

Haha Sonia my nan's building is like that. It's a kind of pentagon shape with two entrances and the sensible thing to do is say 'ahhh I'll meet you at the main door. You might never escape the top floor once you're there.'

Ah, I love spring too! And winter this year was SO cold, so spring feel even better than usual. I’m with my mum and dad at our cabin right now, and we have deer coming up to the bird feeder almost every day. My parents put out food for them.

They are so cute! We had 4 at the same time today. I meet them every now and then when I’m out in the woods with Mick Mac, but it’s quite something to watch them from the window, and to see them tip-toe around my car.

Spring really feel like a new beginning, and like life hit the restart button. I just can’t wait for the flowers! The snow isn’t all gone yet, but I think it’s a matter off days now.

That’s exactly how it is!!
I think (and hope) that the snow will be all gone when I get back home tomorrow or Sunday. It’s more snow at my parents cabin, since it’s further away from the ocean, and a bit higher. But my town doesn’t usually get that much snow, we just got a lot before the temperature went above zero, and then rain and ice, and everything that just makes you pray for spring.

Just curious, do you have several words to describe snow in English? I only know snow I think. Do you use slush to describe snow? I feel like it would be the equivalent to the Norwegian slaps, which is something between water and snow. We do have several words to describe snow over here, but up north the native people have over 100 I think.

Mm we have snow and slush...That's it that I can think of? I feel like Scottish people probably have more. Maybe I am just forgetting some? We have lots of words for rain! And weather in general. But we rarely get snow of the sort that warrants lots of words. It's usually either a light dust or ankle-height.

Yeah, that’s what I thought, no need for words you don’t use. But they probably exist somewhere, since there’s places in the US with lots of snow. For example we call the snow kram when you are able to make snow balls and snow men and stuff. And we do talk about powder, and when it’s coming down as something between rain and snow it’s sludd.
And I have no idea why I keep rambling about snow. Maybe it’s just because I do love snow, so I have to embrace it one last time for this winter.

But one off the things I do love with spring is how the days get longer! It’s sunlight till almost 6pm now, and that is just wonderful. It makes me so happy to be able to go out in daylight on weekdays.

We sort of have words for snow? Or at least descriptors? I live in the US midwest, right in the middle between north and south, so we have a moderate amount of snow and a moderate number of words I think. There's definitely slush and powder, and what's a winter without some good packing snow, which isn't as succinct as kram but I love that word now. And no one here has used the word flurry yet, so I want to drop that one in, too, like when it's getting just a little harder but it's not quite a blizzard. Uhh, snow drifts are a thing? Drift doesn't work in any similar context except for snow. And even when we don't have words for it, we in the midwest very much like to describe snow to each other haha

Yes! Spring! I work at a library that is closed to the public and we do curbside only which has been a nightmare the last couple of months because the weather has just been so bad, but it was so nice out today my supervisor described it as "it's like a prize when you get to go outside now" and that was both cute and accurate. I could smell the spring even through my two masks I was wearing 😊

Yes, I’m glad to hear it’s a thing over there as well!

I love this time, when going outside is feeling that spring is coming and not freezing your nose off. Sounds like a lovely time at work! I work at a school with some heating issues. As in, the heaters are always a couple off days behind the weather, and I never know what to wear to have a comfortable temperature. After freezing for a couple days I wear my warmest wool sweater, and it’s suddenly t-shirt weather. And I will decide that my thin sweater will do the next day, and have a small class in a big room and shiver because off the cold. Interesting times to be sure!

Yes, it’s just that my Backpack is so full off stuff already. I need a new and bigger backpack... It already contains a pair off socks in case my feet get wet on the way to school.
