Just finished reading 'We need to talk about Kevin'. A striking story, that had me immersed with every chapter. If you want something dark, verging on realistic with so much sadness it almost makes it beautiful, then this is the book for you. I won't give too much away because the blinder you go in the greater the affect.

I wouldn't say it was a difficult read, but the references to American politics etc did leave me a little dumbfounded. I'm English and sad to say no very little about the US government. But I caught the gist pretty quickly.

I highly recommend this book.

hanklerfish!!!

i think everyone who got a copy at the show-thing last night had a hanklerfish. or at least from what i saw.

it was a pretty great night, and john and hank are super nice. the line had to go pretty fast (since they signed everyone's copies) but they listened to everyone who had a story or gave a gift, and thanked people for coming out, etc.

admittedly, i didn't have anything to say to them other than "thanks," but still

my friend and i decided to read a game of thrones by george r. r. martin.

pretty excited.

I mostly grew out of fantasy epics in my teens, but I'm such a huge fan of that series. However, to me at least, the books aren't as good as the HBO series. I mainly see them as a companion to the show, since they give more detail into what is going on. That being said, the third book is hands down the best, so hopefully you and your friend will continue reading at least through that one (despite how tedious book 2 is)
