ahhh, i remember singing drops of jupiter repeatedly when i was little.

of course mcr is infinitely important to me, but i'll post something else:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6tV11acSRk

the beatles were my first favorite band. my parents used to sing this all the time.

also-

they called me "sunshine", and my mom would sing this to me. "here comes the sun" and this song are kind of intertwined in my memory.

(lyrics

So you found me on the floor,
I'm split open at the seams,
The lights of Birmingham are wet
and blur in front of me,
Today we woke up at 1,
but it gets dark here at 3,
It's getting hard to believe in anything,

Today I called up my dad,
Said "I'm off balance and weak",
I'm feeling homesick for things I know don't think of me,
He said "It's gonna get lighter, son, just wait there and see",
It's getting hard to believe,

Last night in Leeds,
Ad and I found ourselves wandering the city,
looking for pizza,
All we found was complacency and somewhere to sleep,

I'm still waiting for the map to say home's a week away,

The boys are drowning in Strongbow,
I'm amazed they can breathe,
Weeble's just got caught stealing a Christmas tree,
We drove all the way to Glasgow just watch our defeat,
The venue flooded,
Guess the band last night was too heavy,

Last night in Leeds,
Joe was talking to some bar maid,
Trying to get lucky,
I think it almost worked until he ran into Bobby,
That kid pulled the cock-block of the century,

I'm still waiting for the map to say home's a week away,
Unless Grey Britain comes to me and says,
"It's not so bad if you don't look at it that way"

Last night in Leeds,
The world collapsed all around me,
Along with a shelf in the basement of Liv's house,
By two or three, I thought we'd lost Josh and Mikey,
They were skyhooking cans they hadn't emptied out,

Last night in Leeds,
I know we woke the neighbours,
But I don't think anybody slept that night,
Last night in Leeds,
things got a bit lighter,
I Guess my dad was Right,

I'm still waiting for the map to say home's a week away,
Unless Grey Britain comes to me and says,
"It's not so bad if you don't look at it that way" )

The song that really means a lot to me is "It's my life" by Bon Jovi.

The lyrics are actually more important to me than the music.

This song was released at a time where I was very depressed, didn't have any friends and I didn't know what my future would look like if I even had one.

This song reminded me that this is my life, it won't last forever and I better start living it now the way I want to no matter what anybody else says. :)

This ain't a song for the broken-hearted

No silent prayer for the faith-departed

I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd

You're gonna hear my voice

When I shout it out loud

It's my life

It's now or never

I ain't gonna live forever

I just want to live while I'm alive

(It's my life)

My heart is like an open highway

Like Frankie said

I did it my way

I just wanna live while I'm alive

It's my life

This is for the ones who stood their ground

For Tommy and Gina who never backed down

Tomorrow's getting harder make no mistake

Luck ain't even lucky

Got to make your own breaks

It's my life

And it's now or never

I ain't gonna live forever

I just want to live while I'm alive

(It's my life)

My heart is like an open highway

Like Frankie said

I did it my way

I just want to live while I'm alive

'Cause it's my life

Better stand tall when they're calling you out

Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down

What if I have many songs like that, than they're no longer special really. ;)

My special songs tend to be:

1. Anything that reminds me of an earlier time in my life

2. Songs I've seen the artist perform live

That being said, it used to be my favourite song:

Then along came this, which completely confused me because I couldn't stop putting it on repeat. I always said it sounds like the Manics doing Oasis, but people have compared it to Rush: hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZMd0SCJFEc (Removing the link because it won't let me post three songs, put http instead if you want to see.)

And then one day I came home and started listening to this:

Seeing Echo & The Bunnymen live was the best decision I've ever made as a new fan.

I'm actually listening to Sammy Hagar's Give To Live on repeat. Whenever I hear that one, it makes me want to belive. In love, life, myself... it makes me not want to give up.

I haven't got a video, but here's lyrics:

I can see that's you've got a fire in your eyes

And a pain inside your heart

So many things have come and torn your world apart

Oh baby, baby, baby

Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up!

(If you want love)

If you want love you've got to give a little

(If you want love)

If you want faith you've got to believe a little

(If you want love)

If you want peace turn the cheek a little

You've got to give, you've got to give, you've got to give to live

An empty hand reaching out for someone

An empty heart takes a little to fill

It's so much easier to push instead of pull

Oh baby, baby, baby

Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up!

(If you want love)

If you want love you've got to give a little

(If you want love)

If you want faith you've got to believe a little

(If you want love)

If you want peace turn the cheek a little

You've got to give, you've got to give, you've got to give to live

Each man's a country in his own right

Everybody needs a friend

One friend, one God, one country

No man need defend

I believe in fate and destination

But so much of that lies in our own hands

If you know what you want, just go on out and get it

Oh baby, baby

Just don't give up!

No, no, oh don't give up!

(If you want love)

If you want love you've got to give a little

(If you want love)

If you want faith you've got to believe a little

(If you want love)

If you want peace turn the cheek a little

You've got to give, you've got to give, you've got to give to live
